I cannot stand it when SARAWAKIANS themselves claim that Kuching means cat... Hello, you are Sarawakians, we have our own name for cat in our own dialect.
Mun kitak orang asa aku tok salah, nang paloi lah kitak orang tok. Sik patut kitak orang ngakuk dirik kitak orang ya miak Sarawak! PUSAK ya baruk betol!
The actual history isn't about the buah mata kucing on Bukit Mata Kucing or the fact that the Rajah seeing many cats near the river but it MIGHT actually originates from the Indian word, 'cochin' which means 'port' since the Indians were the few of the early settlers to Sarawak.
Really, I cannot stand it when SARAWAKIANS themselves claiming that Kuching got its name from a cat when to us Sarawakians cat is actually PUSAK.
